  • The "Making Of" Helt Oncale's guitar

    Current mood:mellow

Well, I'm proud to build a guitar for four times "country music award" - winner and good friend Helt Oncale.
It will be a 12-fret Dreadnought (what else), Alpine Spruce top, Indian Rosewood body and Curly Bubinga Bindings...
    So here we go:
First the back... joined and glueing the backstripe...

The back bracings are glued... with the usual 20' radius...
They are pressed with flexible rods, we call it "Himmelbett"

The braced back and the top... notice the "bearclaw"

    Bubinga backstripe...

My name's not Noah, but I got boats to build... (hey, there'a song from Guy Clark  )

The top is braced... there's some music in it yet...

    Quickly have it signed...

    Now we jump... sorry...
Body's closed and the Bubinga was invited to play it's role...

    Nice spruce-bubinga-herringbone arrangement..

    Nicer butt anywhere ?

The first lacquer is always a big moment

Now it's finally a finished guitar ready to rock the stage... Helt is going to pick it up soon...

"Stage-proofed" now - together with the "International Cajun Trio" with Biber Herrmann and Yannick Monot...

    Well... see you soon,
    Martin
  • Was macht ein Gitarrenbauer mit einer Blogfunktion ?

    Current mood:busy

    Viel Spass beim "verfolgen"

Hier liegt das rohe Holz bereit:

    Die Decke...

    ... vom Feinsten

    Korpusholz:

Und der Halsrohling aus Switenia (Honduras-Mahagoni)

    Bis demnächst....

    Gruss, Martin
