    ..In bygone days Lush Rimbaud's home town of Falconara, next to the port of Ancona on Italy's east coast, was the hub of the country's locomotive network. Latterly it has spawned a music scene of growing influence. Centered around the activities of the band, booking agencies Caps & Tuna and Hot Viruz, it has also been the hub of a mutual gig exchange network for Stoke Newington and Italian bands. .. Fittingly, 'The Sound Of The Vanishing Era' – follow up to the forward looking elctropunk of 'Action From The Basement' - begins with the sound of chuffing trains, which snake into writhing hypnotic drum beats locked onto raw, anthemic guitars, synthesized basslines and seething, witty-politti lyrics. .. Released on vinyl (with free cd for the older generation) with a hand-etched cover featuring anarchist philosopher Errico Malatesta riding a chameleon-headed cow into a rainbow. Inside, sounding like a magnificent, desperate attempt at salvation for a rapidly disappearing Italy, before Berlusconi finally facelifts the country, fake tanned and smiling, into his world of titty-tv, masonic mausoleums and political polenta. It explores deeper and darker into electro rock n' roll territory than it's predecessor and also includes a cameo from local poet/drummer Jan Noble, reading a translation of one of Malatesta's freedom championing monologues over an echoing, neo-Neu rockout..... ....Pete Bennett, N16 MAGAZINE, UK.... .. .. ..If you're looking for a f*cked up post punk meets industrial strength electro-rock assault on the senses then Lush Rimbaud have got what you want. You want proof? Take a listen to their album "The Sound of a Vanishing Era" and, while you are at it, turn the volume up and frighten the neighbours. If there ever was an album that could be used as a weapon then this is it. ..Forget the scientific precision of nuclear weapons and go instead for a massive emotional impact that could crack a continent in half. It would be no sneak attack either as the title track is but the first volley in a monster firefight. The vocals are lost in the distance as discordant guitars and drums with the power of Thor's hammer pound your ears. As the rest of this album's armament is brought to bear, the ideas behind it start to stick in your mind and chants such "…I don't believe that people have the power" echo in your head. Make no mistake, Lush Rimbaud aren't looking for love here – they are armed and ready to display torment and frustration at what surrounds them and do so to especially brutal effect in "They Make Money (We Make Noise)" and in the hypnotically twisted "Space Ship". ..True, there is a bizarre intellectual monologue on "Sounds From A New Era" to provide a momentary diversion but there is also no point in denying the fact that this album is relentless and I would think that there are thrash metal bands out there that wish they could keep up the level of intensity that this hardcore Euro robo-rock uses to blast its way out of the speakers. As "Changing Gear" clatters off the walls like a drunken rant put to song, you know it is all about to end and "The Chameleon" slides this album off the metaphorical cliff into the deep, dark pit with the words "I don't want to let you down" burning in your ears. ..So if you are an angry young man and you need a soundtrack for your discontent (and let's face it - acoustic guitars and songs about trees just don't cut it anymore) then crank "The Sound of a Vanishing Era" up because when it is gone, it really will be gone. BLUESBUNNY, UK.... .... ..Non ci è dato sapere quale sia la "vanishing era" cui fanno riferimento gli anconetani Lush Rimbaud, ma ci auguriamo sia quella che ci stiamo lasciando alle nostre spalle. Il presente album è il seguito ideale del loro esordio del 2007, l'eccellente "Action from the Basement". Ancora una volta il quartetto composto da Tommaso Pela (voce,chitarra e synth), David Cavalloro (chitarra e synth), Marco Giaccani (basso e theremin) e Michele Alessandrini (batteria) dimostra di avere idee brillanti e capacità tecniche per realizzarle. Dopo un autentico tour de force di date in giro per la Penisola, i Lush Rimbaud sembrano aver acquisito una coesione straordinaria, oltre ad una rinnovata determinazione sonora. .. "The Sound of the Vanishing Era" è un perfetto mix di sonorità post punk di scuola Gang of Four/Pop Group e influenze americane eterogenee sulla scia di TV on the Radio, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Oneida e Liars. L'introduzione di synth sulle chitarre abrasive di Pela e Cavalloro avviene con garbo e senza strafare, realizzando un amalgama potente ed efficace. Un fronte sonoro che si incastra con una sezione ritmica potente, capace di divincolarsi dalle pastoie dell..hardcore per abbracciare la meccanica ripetitività del post punk inglese e del kraut rock. Alcuni brani esplodono con vibrante intensità, mentre altri conducono a scenari musicali più raffinati. Le otto tracce in scaletta, prodotte impeccabilmente da Fabio Magistrali, colpiscono direttamente al cuore di chi ama il suono del rumore. 8/10.. ..Simone Bardazzi, ROCKERILLA Aprile '10, ITA ...... .. ..Uscito nel 2007, "Action From The Basement", il primo album targato Lush Rimbaud, ha dato una certa visibilità agli anconetani, arrivando a suscitare anche l'interesse del settimanale britannico "New Musical Express", il quale ne lodava l'impatto sonoro, nella fattispecie parlando di "teso flusso sonico" e "ipnotica andatura elettronica". Il seguito, "The Sound Of The Vanishing Era", registrato da Fabio Magistrali, ribadisce la potenza di tiro dei quattro, e la loro propensione a mescolare gli schemi ciclici e ripetitivi di certo krautrock con una fresca e convincente passione per il post punk britannico più tagliente. Caratteristica quest'ultima che nel trapestio di "They Make Money (We Make Noise)" lascia nell'aria una vaga traccia della misantropia sferragliante dei Fall. .. La tempesta elettrica, volutamente pestona, selvatica e un po' sconnessa (ma capace di aggregarsi in vortici di sequencer) di "Space Ship" è un livido incubo elettro-country, pieno di entusiasmo però, che non può lasciare indifferenti, e infatti ci convince ben presto di essere il brano migliore del lotto. All'interno di un disco che, in ogni caso, è bello denso e pieno di energia, e non ha momenti di stanca, attraversato com'è da una persistente e molesta tensione elettrica. Bravi, e parecchio... ..Alessandro Besselva Averame, FUORIdalMUCCHIO Aprile '10, ITA.... .. .. ..Sembra passata una vita da quel lontano 2007, anno in cui gli anconetani Lush Rimbaud debuttavano con un album fragoroso per poi passare anche sul palco romano del Sinister Noise Club. Una vita spesa bene, se è vero che questo secondo capitolo (prodotto dal team di etichette FromScratch, Brigadisco, BloodySound, HotViruz, SweetTeddy e NarvaloSuoni) è un montante destro in pieno volto. Dove il protagonista principale è l'anarchico Errico Malatesta (il barbuto raffigurato nella copertina per una grafica opera di Rocco Lombardi) ed i suoi scritti che fanno da ideale sceneggiatura per un disco profondamente influenzato dalle reiterazioni del kraut rock... Ma non solo. Quella del quartetto marchigiano è musica visionaria. Cardio-accelerata. Cerebro-nervosa. Lanciata in orbita nell'universo sconosciuto. Uno dei picchi più alti della musica underground tinta di bianco-rosso-verde. Con un trittico finale (cosmico) da far paura. [****1/2] .. ..Emanuele Tamagnini, NERDSATTACK!, ITA.... .. .. ..Li amo. Perché li amo. Vuoi sapere di più? Va bene. Allora ti dò un indizio. I Lush Rimbaud avanzano con un'attitudine punk che pervade tutto questo "The Sound of The Vanishing Era", tanto che – ad esempio - dopo i primi 8 minuti ti convinci che la batteria sia uno strumento capace di fare solo quello che senti nei suddetti 8 minuti di fuoco. Come direbbe l'eminente filosofo Bugs Bunny, Tu certamente sai che questo significa guerra. E infatti, così è. Ogni numero, una tessera del mosaico composto al solo scopo di essere distrutto e utilizzato come risorsa per il tiro al bersaglio contro l'insano piccione. Se fino a They make money (we make noise), rimanere immobili come statue e col sorrisetto beffardo stampato sulle labbra a dimostrare sincero ma contenuto apprezzamento era abbastanza deprecabile, arrivati a God Trip, chi non balla è scemo. .. Poi c'è una specie di polka spaziale e un convegno intergalattico di campionamenti vocali contraddistinti da splendido ed impeccabile accento. Scusa, sto entrando in galleria e per due anni potresti non sentirmi più. Mi rendo conto della follia di tutto questo, ma provaci tu. Provaci tu a descrivere l'entusiasmo per l'eutanasia della noia. Basta. Mi sono rotto di te. Di te e del tuo proposito di scrutare in modalità intensiva i lacci delle mie scarpe per scoprire l'errore alla base della loro scarsa resistenza agli assalti del tempo. Datti pace. Il mocassino si è sempre dovuto scontrare con l'idiozia dell'assunto secondo cui un lungo e flaccido filo cubico in cuoio dovrebbe mantenere l'intreccio. .. Ecco, questo è quello che penso di "The Sound of The Vanishing Era". Un disco che ti permette di non chiederti perché o come. O meglio, non te ne dà il tempo.
