Mount Fuji is more than just a 90s re-hash band, there's something else they bring to the table besides genuineness: originality. [...] These guys sound thick and grungy but are undeniably a metal band, they rock hard. [...] Their album is heavy as s**t, but they're not afraid to let loose with great emotive choruses and melodies such as in "Just Human" and the end of "Head on Fire". "MOUNT FUJI’s style is a bit weird to describe: They have some Stoner influences but they are not a Stoner band, they have some Grunge influences but they definitely don’t play Grunge, the vocals could fit in a Sludge band but nope…they don’t sound like a Sludge band either. The best way to describe their style is Heavy Metal cause in the end of the day they play heavy music. On second thought, I’ll try to be more brave here and compare their approach in music with DOWN (especially on their second album) and METALLICA (“Load” era). [...] With the guitar having the leading role, riff after riff the band renders the listener incapable of doing anything else other than constant headbanging. [...] So, if you like (semi)modern Heavy Metal music, with Doom-laden riffs and a mix of influences and flavors make sure you check this band out."
