  • Bio

Perc!val (Percy Duke) was born in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Dallas Arts Magnet High School with schoolmates like Erykha Badu, Nora Jones, Roy Hargove and Edie Brickell. After graduation he went to New York and did several Broadway shows including CATS and the showcase version of THE LIFE where Composing legend, Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, City of Angels) wrote a song specifically for his voice. Perc!val's European credits include many television appearances on TV TOTAL and Harald Schmidt as backing vocalist for the visiting stars. He has done backing vocals for Robbie Williams, Chaka Khan, Robert Palmer, Michael Jackson, Curtis Steigers, Jule Neigel, Cher, Anastasia among many others. Percy did support for Alanis Morissette, Lauren Hill, Bryan Adams and Skunk Anansie. Now Solo, Perc!val has had a couple of bands and many live performances throughout Europe including London, Stockholm, Paris, Rome and all over the German Republic. He was hailed by TIME OUT magazine (London) as the Singer/Songwriter of the year in 2007; By Prinz Zeitung (Cologne) as the Best Singer in the land; Sonic Magazine (Sweden ) has already dubbed him the next Big Thing; and Hamburger Morgenpost 'the best performer Hamburg has ever seen'. Also a songwriter, Perc!val, has worked with Xavier Naidoo, Rui Veloso, Lucie Silvas, Stefano Maggio and many Swedish and English producers on pop songs for various artists. He is presently in negotiations for his songwriting as well as his own music. He began working professionally as a child at the tender age of six after he heard children's choir singing on a McDonald's commercial and promptly told his parents that he could do better, which he proved over and over again in several TV commercials and stage performances later. Perc!val's style is unlike that of any other pop/rock singer today because he has been influenced and successfully worked in other genres of music: Pop, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Blues and Funk and Soul. But he returned to what first influenced him which is the Rock world. Perc!val, when not singing, spends a lot of his time writing film scripts, short stories and poetry. Coming from a family background of half American Indian (Cherokee) and half Black, he has a lot to say about society today in America and throughout the world he has, until now, been exposed to. He is presently writing and co-writing material for his new Album in Rome and Stockholm and is working with some of the top names in the business.
