    Report: August 2009
In the late 80's and mid 90's Seattle USA
produced a music scene which took the world by storm. Years later music
has gone full circle and NOW a new thriving music scene in the UNITED
    KINGDOM is Erupting.

    I'm Nick J.Townsend of WEAK13, also an
underground music journalist, columnist and radio show presenter. For
the last 6 months bands and crowds are flocking to a place called
Stourbridge in England. Venues there are opening doors to bands. Music
engineers, promoters, small labels, Bands and music fans are going to
Stourbridge. One of the next big nights there has LAST UNDER THE SUN,
THE ROCKET DOLLS, MASTER WARBEAST & WPAPPED IN PLASTIC all playing
at BASE STUDIOS on FRIDAY AUGUST 28TH. The venue can be found on www.basestudios1.co.uk I'll be there offering radioplay to bands that need it.

The radio show can be heard here http://www.basementsound.co.uk/radio/BSRadio.php
I plug bands from Brazil, Portugal, Sweden, USA, Australia, UK. Get on
the show and contact producer 'Murph' on team@basementsound.co.uk

I grew up with some of the best music in the world and 15 years later
only now am I starting to hear original bands make good music again.
The venues are now becoming full again. This may never happen again for
another 15 years. Now is the time. People will decide what music will
be popular in the S'bridge scene. Seattle had grunge. Which genre will
    get big first?

About me:

PMT or 'PureMetalTime' is now a very popular surreal radio show which can be heard every week on www.basementsound.co.uk but before the radio show was the magazine

PMT MAGAZINE (First published 2002)

PMT was in it's day one of the most underground and taboo of British music magazines. It always contained details of some of the most underground UK gigs and events in the Midlands, focused on rock & metal bands, and crammed to the brim with adult humour. Pages filled with outrageous material including the legendary 'Ask Nick' (letters page), 'Horrorscopes' (negative astrological predictions), 'The Scum' (Saterical newspage) and of course the 'PMT F-Bay catalogue' (Made up gadgets). The two crazy editors Nick J.Townsend and King Rich gave it's readers uncensored anarchy in a A5-sized black & white paged magazine for 3 years before calling it a day. The magazine was responsible for an entire new generation of musicians and pushed the way forward for underground music.

PMT MAGAZINE

First published in 2002, PMT Magazine was the brainchild of Nick J.Townsend , a small 32-page magazine that contained info on bands from the West Midlands, venue info and strange but very original humour. The magazine was FREE and was distributed throughout most of the main rock clubs, pubs, rock shops and colleges in the West Midlands. The musician and solo artist 'King Rich' also helped with the business side of the magazine and helped generate the money through advertising to pay for the printing of the magazine.

The magazine came out at the right time when the music scene had recieved a boost. Copies were demanded by an eager fanbase and a new music explosion was created in the town of Kidderminster (England) in 2003. Venues, bars, clubs & Pubs such as 'Ye Olde Seven Stars', the Swan', The Sutton Arms', 'Redwoods' put on band nights every month (Redwoods Rocknight 2003-05), and became packed due to the rise of hundreds of small bands and the success of PMT Magazine.

As well as releasing the magazine, Nick J.Townsend & King Rich wanted to give Kidderminster music fans a bigger venue and created a massive advertising campaigne to regenerate intrest in putting on music at the Kidderminster townhall. Nick J.Townsend headed the campaigne and created Kidderminster's first ever Rock Festival in the 21st Century.

Just like the magazine, the festivals became bigger and bigger. Bands from all across the Midlands played at the events, generating even more advertising and fans for the magazine, the towns music scene became more known to the younger generation outside of Kidderminster and for the first time in years Kidderminster was the place for musicians and bands to be.

King Rich left the magazine in 2003 because his life was too busy and needed to focus on his music. Nick continued the magazine for another 2 editions and then released the magazine under a different name -'Nick The Mag'. More copies were made and the magazine reached new parts of the country including Manchester, London and Swansea.

In 2006 Nick J.Townsend decided to stop the magazine and end it with a high as just like King Rich decided he needed to spend his time doing his music. Nick J.Townsend currently writes sings and plays for the British Band Weak13 and is co-editor of LinkQ Magazine.
