Bio
HISTORY:.. On the 23rd of November 2004 a musical experiment was devised in a small British town called Kidderminster. Three musicians ....Neutron Tears ....(aka Matt Tarbuck), ....King Rich.... and ....Nick J.Townsend.... teamed up to set up an 'open-mike' event LIKE NO OTHER. .... Using mobile recording equipment supplied by ....Neutron Tears.... and a small 300+ venue called Redwoods (hired out by ....Nick J.Townsend.... and ....King Rich....), the three musicians advertised a monthly open-mike night where musicians could turn up and play three songs live, the songs were recorded, mixed and then packaged into a CD format to be onsale the following month at the venue. .. .. The musicians that played got FREE live recordings, all they had to do was turn up the following month to collect them, the best of their three tracks were put onto a CD, extra CD's were sold on the night to the general public, the CD's sold paid for the costs (broke even) and the audience attending the night heard and saw something amazing every month. On average about 10-12 artists were recorded each month. .. .. ...... .. 7 of these monthly events were organised. It created a total of 6 CD's, each becoming more and more impressive. The events attracted all sorts of musicians, each knowing that the better they played - the better their recordings would come out. This gave a platform for many musicians to hear their work recorded. .. .. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 1 - Recorded November 23rd 2004.. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 2 - Recorded December 21st 2004.. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 3 - Recorded January 18th 2005.. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 4 - Recorded February 15th 2005.. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 5 - Recorded March 15th 2005.. Redwoods Unplugged VOLUME 6 - Recorded April 19th 2005.. .. The 6 CD's containing between 12 and 16 tracks were Recorded and engineered by ....Neutron Tears ....(aka Matt Tarbuck) who, as well as playing Live at the venue too, had the tremendous task of going through hours of musicians material every month for six whole months. It was a challenge and he did a fantastic job. The CD artwork, design and photography was designed by ....Nick J.Townsend.... and the huge task of getting the venue near capacity each month was thanks to ....King Rich..... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -

Report: August 2009
In the late 80's and mid 90's Seattle USA
produced a music scene which took the world by storm. Years later music
has gone full circle and NOW a new thriving music scene in the UNITED
KINGDOM is Erupting.
I'm Nick J.Townsend of WEAK13, also an
underground music journalist, columnist and radio show presenter. For
the last 6 months bands and crowds are flocking to a place called
Stourbridge in England. Venues there are opening doors to bands. Music
engineers, promoters, small labels, Bands and music fans are going to
Stourbridge. One of the next big nights there has LAST UNDER THE SUN,
THE ROCKET DOLLS, MASTER WARBEAST & WPAPPED IN PLASTIC all playing
at BASE STUDIOS on FRIDAY AUGUST 28TH. The venue can be found on www.basestudios1.co.uk I'll be there offering radioplay to bands that need it.
The radio show can be heard here http://www.basementsound.co.uk/radio/BSRadio.php
I plug bands from Brazil, Portugal, Sweden, USA, Australia, UK. Get on
the show and contact producer 'Murph' on team@basementsound.co.uk
I grew up with some of the best music in the world and 15 years later
only now am I starting to hear original bands make good music again.
The venues are now becoming full again. This may never happen again for
another 15 years. Now is the time. People will decide what music will
be popular in the S'bridge scene. Seattle had grunge. Which genre will
get big first?
