  • Bio

Composer and multi-instrumentalist , born in Athens, Greece. In 1981 formed one of the first Greek punk groups "Anipofori" (The Unbearables), the first punk band singing in Greek. During the 80s he cooperated with various groups of the Greek independent rock music scene (Echo Tatoo, Low Noise, etc). In the late 80s, he started cooperating with Greek singer-lyricist Kristi Stassinopoulou. Together with Kristi, V. Vekios and K. Anagnostopoulos they formed "Selana", an underground band with an "ethnopunk" sound. Beginning of the '90s Stathis started using also traditional string instruments and experimenting with electronics and live looping. He is the composer, arranger and co-producer of Kristi Stassinopoulou's albums, "taxidoscopio", "The Secrets of the Rocks" , "Echotropia" and "Ifantokosmos". Since 2010, together with Kristi Stassinopoulou they formed "Greekadelia duo". Kristi Stassinopoulou in singing, story telling, on Indian harmonium, acoustic guitar, frame drums, and small percussions and Stathis Kalyviotis on laouto, live looping, electric guitar and groove sampler. Together they create a soundscape ranging from purely acoustic to purely electronic, visiting all the in-betweens, with arrangements of Greek traditional songs and many more creations from their albums.
