in 2001, Jürgen Rieger and Gerd Neusser sat down together and thought about a project under which they could publish their own compositions on the internet. as both have been closely associated with electronic music and fascinated by space and space travel for a very long time, it didn't take long until the "Sternenspringer" was born.
with a love of all types of electronic music, the first tracks were published on their self-made website in 2002. "...it would be great...", they both remember, "if somebody out there heard our tracks... and gave us positive feedback". this feedback was not long in coming and "Sternenspringer" became a respected act on the "netlabel" scene.
immersing themselves in the world of "netlabel", "Sternenspringer" then came into contact with "tonAtom" for the first time. the first release, "Flux und Analyse" followed in 2003. the two quickly increased their output and repeatedly surprised their listeners with new sound ideas and concepts. 2004 saw the release of the four-track EP "Lake Vostok", 2005 the six-track EP "Prototype" and 2007 the album "Sternenspringer". the ambient album "Areas and Movements" appeared as a special release on their own website in 2005. This album was very successful for the two musicians and was rewarded with the "MP3 tip of the month in the german "Beat" magazine in july 2007. "tonAtom" remained the musical port of call for "Sternenspringer". after several EPs, albums and single tracks, the album "Kontakt" appeared in 2011.
in addition to the "Sternenspringer" project, the two artists are also pursuing other projects to express their musical diversity. In 2005, the minimal project "Systemton" followed with various releases on "inoquo". in 2006, Jürgen Rieger launched his solo project named "Polarproject". in 2007, the sound project "Funkzelle" was born, which stands for house, deep house and chill. in 2009, the "Projekt Nebelwerk" was founded together with a friend of theirs, the author Marko Hupel, a fusion of experimental sound design and sound collages of various genres and the power of poetic verse.
in addition to all their activities as musicians, sound and beat inventors, as well as advocates of a flourishing independent culture, the two "Sternenspringer" founded their own record label, "Clear Cut Records" in september 2006. a platform for talented producers and DJs from all over the world. mostly unknown artists can present their ideas and visions to a wide audience here. a mix of free "Creative Commons" releases and commercial EPs makes up the special flavour of "Clear Cut Records". In keeping with the label motto "Music for Minimal Moments", here, in addition to their music, the two are living their vision of exciting electronic music which can constantly be rediscovered.
