This morning Alternative Press reported that Jonny Craig is no longer a member of Emarosa. The band sent the magazine a statement reading, “As of today, Jonny Craig is no longer a member of Emarosa. This decision has been a hard one to make, but we feel it is in the best interest for the band going forward.”

    .

Craig joined Emarosa four years ago after he was kicked out of the band Dance Gavin Dance (which he recently rejoined.) You may remember that Craig made headlines in February when he scammed his fans out of thousands of dollars by pretending to sell  them laptops that never existed. He has since gone to detox and been released and his label and management company have promised to repay his fans.

    .

Dance Gavin Dance/Emarosa frontman Jonny Craig has finally issued a statement regarding allegations that he committed Internet fraud against his fans by taking their money in exchange for computers that didn’t exist. He also addressed his recent stint in detox following these incidents.

    .

Craig’s statement reads as follows: “I want to apologize for my recent behavior. My actions regarding taking advantage of fans was inexcusable. I’m in the process of paying everyone back so please forgive me. My state of mind was completely shot and obviously my decision making skills were heavily impaired due to my drug use. I’ve since been in detox and successfully completed the treatment. I’ve learned a lot from this ordeal and I realized I’ve redeemed my second chance. I want to personally thank Eric at Artery and Craig at Rise for helping me through this emotionally and financially.

    .

Craig goes on to say he is ashamed by his recent behavior “I’m embarrassed with my past actions, I want to make amends to everyone I hurt. Again, sorry to all my fans, family, band mates and colleagues. I’m truly sorry. Now back to work…I’m looking forward to seeing all the DGD fans and their positive energy that they always bring to the shows. With that being said, the past will stay dead and let’s toast to the future kids.”

  • Jonny Craig goes on hiatus, then takes it back (kinda)

by Jonah Bayer Jan 18, 2011 at 10:33 AM

This is all a little confusing, so bear with us. A few days ago, Jonny Craig, the frontman for Emarosa and Dance Gavin Dance, logged onto twitter to say, “I’m sorry everyone but I’m going to be taking a very very very long hiatus. All my tours and CDs are cancelled [sic]. Thank you and goodnight,” and followed it up by saying, “I will post the reason I’m quitting on my blog today at www.diamondmonroe.com. Again sorry.”

    .

As you can expect, fans freaked out—and probably a lot of them, when you consider that Craig has 35,000 followers. So shortly afterward, he reconsidered, posting, “Ok so I’ve decided to just put my solo cd on hold. I will be playing out the tours with DGD and emarosa. As for writing music I’m on HOLD” and “If you want further info I’ll be writing a blog at www.diamondmonroe.com thank you to everyone who supports me.”

  • New Around Here: Call Us Forgotten

    Location: Portland, OR

Chart Position: This Oregon metalcore crew are bowling over industry vets on the Myspace metal chart. They currently sit at Number Seven on the metal chart… and we’re not talking about the unsigned metal chart. We’re talking the big-dog metal chart. So not surprisngly, they are also the Number One unsigned metal act, even topping the unsigned hardcore chart as well.

How They’re Moving: Without ever releasing a truly polished debut, Call Us Forgotten are up 36 percent on the overall metal chart and own the Top Four slots with regards unsigned metal songs. Specifically, their gunshot-speed tomahawk-of-a-single, “Forgotten,” (which you can listen to above) is up 88 percent and sits atop the unsigned metal chart.

They kind of sound like, you know: Of Mice and Men… the band—not that weak-ass slow read you were forced to sludge through in junior high.
