.. .. ...... What is the Mondo Fumatore sound? ...... Semi-electronic psychedelia with a touch of urban hippie flavour? Neo-garage rock for basement show kids? Whatever you prefer to call it, it surely is head-bopping, spastic, flailing fun; it definitely is a physical experience... Hailing from Berlin, Mondo Fumatore originally started as a trio back in 1998 with a rave reviewed album on Rewika Records („Rolling Like An Egg“). Since the drummer left the band pretty soon after their first tour, Mondomarc and Gwendolyn went on as a duo and started to digitalize their fuzzy indierock sound from album to album („Plays Rodeo“ 2000, „Mondo Fumatore“ 2003)....... Following their latest release „The Hand“ in 2008, Mondo Fumatore have found themselves two wonderful new band members: after occasionally jumping in for a couple of shows, the fabulous Endai Hudl (of Sexo Y Droga, The Happy End) is now permanently seated behind the drums (well, actually he’s standing there as his raw and chaotic energy somehow doesn’t allow him to sit down), while Krite Uhe (formerly of Speed Niggs, Sharon Stoned, Floor etc.) is playing whatever is set up on stage, but mainly that is guitar, keyboards and some electronics....... In this new outfit, Mondo Fumatore at first glance seem to have turned to a more mature, rock’n’roll-based sound. But this first impression is immediately proved incorrect once you realize the achievements of Mondo Fumatore’s electro years breaking their way through the weird, rocking surface. You could possibly say that nowadays Mondo Fumatore are more „dangerous“ than before, including even more styles and sounds to be turned upside down in the Mondo machine.......
